A timeless masterpiece making its Roman debut

Among the rarest and most fascinating cars in Italian automotive history, the 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B will be one of the highlights of the first edition of the Anantara Concorso Roma 2026. The event, scheduled from April 16 to 19 in the capital, will bring over 70 masterpieces of “Made in Italy” on four wheels into the spotlight.

The specimen from the Keller Collection, already famous in the most prestigious international concours, will be on public display on April 18 and 19, offering enthusiasts a rare opportunity to admire one of the absolute icons of pre-war motoring up close.

Technical excellence from the Italian golden age

Born in the height of the “golden age” of Italian automotive design, the 8C 2900 represents one of the highest points of Alfa Romeo engineering. Introduced in 1935 for sports competitions, it was designed to dominate legendary races like the Mille Miglia.

The “B” version, introduced in 1937, was produced in just 33 units until 1941. Under the hood beats a refined 2.9-liter inline 8-cylinder engine, powered by two Roots superchargers and Weber carburetors, capable of delivering 180 hp: extraordinary numbers for the time.

The mechanics were no less advanced, featuring independent front suspension and technical solutions designed to ensure high performance and stability even in the most demanding competitions.

A history spanning racing, design, and legend

This specific specimen boasts a particularly prestigious history. In fact, it is believed to have been one of the prototypes developed for the 1938 Mille Miglia, a race eventually won by an 8C 2900B.

The first owner was Giuseppe Farina, a historical figure in motoring and the first Formula 1 world champion in 1950. The car also stands out for its unique bodywork, crafted by Stabilimenti Farina, with stylistic influences attributed to Battista Pinin Farina.

A mix of technical innovation and aesthetic refinement makes this specimen even more precious within the landscape of historic cars.

International awards and recent recognition

After a careful restoration completed in 1995, the car embarked on a long career in the world’s most prestigious concours d’elegance. From participating in the Pebble Beach Concours to European events, the 8C 2900B has collected top-tier awards.

Among the most recent are “The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award” 2026 and, in 2025, the “Best of Show” and “The Spirit of the Concours Trophy” obtained at The Amelia, one of the most important international competitions.

Anantara Concorso Roma: The Dolce Vita of motoring

The Anantara Concorso Roma was created with the aim of celebrating the best of Italian motoring, intertwining design, culture, gastronomy, and hospitality.

The event will take place between Casina Valadier and Piazza Bucarest, in the evocative gardens of Villa Borghese, offering an immersive experience that combines elegance and automotive passion.
