THE ROAR OF PASSION THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOODS: THE STORY OF “LE ROMBANTI” IN PESARO

There is a precise moment when mechanics stop being just a collection of iron, bolts, and lubricating oil and transform into pure emotion. It is that magical instant when an engine fires up after weeks of silence: the first burst, the idle stabilizing, and the pungent scent of gasoline mixing with the crisp morning air.

But the true magic doesn’t happen behind the closed doors of a garage; it happens when that individual passion comes into the light and becomes a shared experience. It was from this need that the monthly meetings of “Le Rombanti” were born in January 2024. This project is not just a car meet, but an act of love and a bridge boldly extended toward the new generations.

The Origin: An Intuition to Change the Rules

It all began within the walls of the “Dorino Serafini” Pesaro Historic Autoclub. During a discussion among board members, the theme was clear: how do we reach a younger audience and attract new enthusiasts? For too long, historic motoring has been perceived as an elite club reserved for a few collectors, tied to institutional rallies consisting of museums and formal lunches.

It was then that my colleague and friend Manuel Girometti and I decided to flip the paradigm. Our idea was simple: to create an informal, accessible, barrier-free gathering promoted through digital word-of-mouth. Today, Manuel and I are the organizers and sole managers of this event.

A “Smart” and Counter-Trend Bet

At the beginning of 2024, the “street meeting” format had not yet exploded on a national level. Pesaro blazed its own autonomous trail by focusing on agile communication: the confirmation of the event depends on weather conditions, and details are shared on social media and via the “Le Rombanti” WhatsApp group (a read-only channel) just one week in advance. This choice ensures the event takes place under optimal conditions, safeguarding the cars’ bodywork.

At the first appointment, the response was a roar: fifty cars showed up right on time. That success confirmed we were on the right track.

The Itinerant Philosophy: Motoring “At Your Doorstep”

Unlike static meets, the strength of “Le Rombanti” lies in its itinerant nature. Every month we change the scenery: we move through the neighborhoods of Pesaro, the suburbs, and the villages of the hinterland. We want to transform daily urban space into an open-air museum, democratizing beauty. Historic motoring thus enters people’s lives: from the passerby doing groceries to families out for a stroll, anyone can approach and touch history firsthand.

The Transmission of Knowledge and a Garage Without Borders

At our gatherings, there is no snobbery. It is possible to admire side-by-side:

  • Historic and Classic: post-war icons.
  • Youngtimers: the legends of the ’80s and ’90s dreamed of by today’s thirty-somethings.
  • Instant Classics and Americans: from overseas V8s to future classic models.
  • Supercars: dream machines that spark the imagination.

The event lasts about three hours: no awards or rankings, just mechanics and new friendships. The climax is the final scenic drive (about 30 minutes) through the city and hills, concluding with the traditional group photo.

Candelara and the Future

The appointments in the village of Candelara have been our crown jewel, demonstrating how engines can enhance the local territory and tourism. Today, “Le Rombanti” is a consolidated reality in Pesaro and surrounding areas. In a world moving toward sterile mobility, we remind everyone that the car is freedom and human ingenuity. When our caravan passes through the neighborhoods of Pesaro, it’s not just vehicles passing by: it is the history of who we were and the promise that this passion will continue to roar from generation to generation.
